Pablo Neruda's Book of Questions

XIV.
And what did the rubies say
standing before the juice of pomegranates?

Why doesn't Thursday talk itself
into coming after Friday?

Who shouted with glee
when the color blue was born?

Why does the earth grieve
when the violets appear?

En las noches como esta la tuve entre mis brazos. Le bese tantas veces bajo el cielo infinito.

His kisses sweeter than honey, I hold him closer than air. Under the stars, his voice protects me from all. I picture us forever, this way for all enterity.

He looks me in the eyes and smiles. With him gone, there is no world. Can’t remember the days with out him, he’s my shield from pain and sorrow.

Lost in his eyes is where I’ll stay. Never aiming to hurt him. My love will cradle him, no after life without.
