  1. 5. The Sustainable Futures act is something that I could believe. It’s name is very believable and it’s late passing is unsurprising to me. Foreign agencies coming in to help in refugee camps and rebel groups with believable names add to the scary realness.

    6. The mom allows her kids to do what they want with their lives, even if she doesn’t want to. The sisters are opposites and Simon has glorifies the rebels. They depend on each other more than most families.

    7. Most people in the Free Southern State are aligned with the rebels. If you are not, you could be pushed out of your home.

    8. The premise of the Second Civil War was similar to the first. It began because of a political change that threatened an outdated economic opportunity of the south.

  2. Simone & Andrew

    5. In the story, fossil fuels are mentioned. It says that they aren't to be used anymore, mainly due to pollution. The family also says something about using solar panels. This relates to what is going on now, because we are having issues with pollution and overusing the fossil fuels, so solar panels are being brought up more and getting used more.

    6. Simon and Sarat are more independent than Dana, and so is their mother. Their mother, after the dad dies, acts stronger, and the bond between them is strong. Their mother is independent, unlike the first Civil War, because there weren't as many rights back then.

    7. Since they are in a war, they are pretty persuasive because they want to get away. The threats seem to be death, because that is what seems to happen. They are treated harshly and pushed around if they do not listen.

    8. The North is right and the South is wrong, is how it seems to be in the book. Additionally, the North is winning and the South is losing. I do not think our conflicts will be as harsh, because we are closer. If anything, it will be against the government for not listening.
