  1. 3. He wants to die because he doesn't know why he does the bad things that he does. The lady want to save York because that is her job, she lets him talk and listens to him.

    2. The narrator is prisoner on death row that thinks that the dungeon is enchanted. The lady is hired to help York, a prisoner that lives next to the narrator, get out of death row even though he wants to die. The priest works at the jail, he is a fallen priest so he did something that made him fall from grace so he can't work at a prison.

4.I think that he should stay on death row, so my opinions on him did not change. He is saying he doesn't know why he kills people so I think that he should stay until he figures that out. I feel like that lady is listening to him and she doesn't think that he is like all the other prisoners.

  2. 1. The narrator finds the prison to be a safe haven, somewhere he believes he can't get hurt for what he has done. He did what happened to himself and others.

    2. In some way shape or form, they were all abused when they were young. All by older people in their communities who took advantage of them at young ages.

    3. York thinks he's worthless, a person who isn't worth all the trouble he has caused. He gave up on himself and decides he no longer wants to live. The lady believes she understands how he feels and believes she can relate to him.

    4. I thought York was your basic criminal. Some guy who did a crime and was spending the fair amount of time but in his case, death. He seemed like a prisoner who just didn't want to live anymore. However once I got far enough and realized why he was in prison my initial thoughts vanished. He deserves to be in prison, deserving to have his death sentence, just so he could rot away until his death.
